THE GRAPE

Tamaioasa Roz in Romania

Tamaioasa Roz is exceptionally rare, with approximately 17 hectares cultivated in Romania. Its plantings are concentrated in the Segarcea Vineyard, making it one of the country's most geographically distinctive native grape varieties.

The variety is prized for its intense aromatic character, with typical notes of rose petals, lychee, peach and tropical fruit, complemented by subtle spice and refreshing acidity. Depending on harvest time and vinification, styles can range from dry and aromatic to richer wines with residual sweetness.

Its rarity and close association with Domeniul Coroanei Segarcea give Tamaioasa Roz a special place among Romania's native grapes and highlight the importance of preserving the country's less common varieties.
