Romanian Pinot Gris typically combines ripe fruit with refreshing acidity. Pear, stone fruit and citrus are common aromatic references, while riper examples can show floral, tropical, almond or lightly honeyed nuances. Depending on vineyard conditions and vinification, styles can range from bright and delicate to broader and more textural.

Important areas for Pinot Gris include Transylvania, Moldova and Muntenia. Differences in altitude, temperature and soil allow the variety to express noticeably different personalities across these regions.

In cooler areas, Pinot Gris can retain greater freshness and precision, while warmer vineyards favour riper fruit, fuller texture and greater concentration. Romanian winemakers use both stainless steel and oak maturation, depending on the desired style, from youthful and fruit-driven wines to more complex and structured expressions.
