Feteasca Regala is cultivated on approximately 12,007 hectares in Romania, making it one of the country's most widely planted white grape varieties. Its origins are closely associated with Transylvania, particularly the Mures and Tarnave valleys.

The variety gained prominence during the interwar period, when Romanian oenologists recognised its ability to produce fresh, balanced dry and semi-dry wines. Its success was helped by its adaptability to different soils and climatic conditions.

Today, Feteasca Regala is cultivated across several major Romanian wine regions, including Tarnave, Moldova, Crisana-Maramures and Banat.

Wines made from Feteasca Regala are generally fresh and lively, with bright acidity and moderate alcohol. Young wines often show greenish-yellow tones and delicate floral and fruit aromas, while bottle age can bring deeper straw-yellow and golden nuances. Its balance of freshness, accessibility and versatility has made Feteasca Regala a cornerstone of modern Romanian white wine.
